23rd Sunday after PentecostNovember 16 November 16 is Stewardship Sunday, so please pick up your stewardship letter in the narthex. If there isn't a letter addressed to you, you may take one of the unaddressed letters - and please email Gloria at office@holycross with your address so that she can include you in future communications. Parish Council is looking for pictures and videos of Holy Cross events and gatherings, including of ministry activities, clubs, fundraisers, and generally anything that represents your experience at or with our church. The images will be used for in-house videos, newsletters, and outreach. All images will be vetted for individual security by asking for permission for their use. We will not keep the images that any subject objects to them being made public. Please email Grant Los (Parish Council Member) at grantlos57@gmail.com if you have any pictures you would like to share. Our own 31st St Cyprian's Venturer Scouts are hosting a silent auction fundraiser, raising money for their youth programming and a skill-building trip to Halifax. They are asking you to please consider a personal or corporate donation of a gift card, product, or service to the auction if able. All donations are needed by November 20th. Please contact Shayne Dickin at 587-226-3286 for information or to donate. The event is here at Holy Cross on Saturday, November 29, the same day that Christmas tree sales begin. If you would like to buy a 2026 church calendar, please contact Lisa Boulet at 403 399 2315. The cost is $10 each.

Book Club3rd Thursday of the Month at 7:00 PM All are welcome! For information, speak to Kathy McNair at 587-227-5464, Wendy Dickin at 403-282-7700, or Glynis McClary at 402-926-6583. Next session is Thursday, November 20. Schedule of book discussions: "The Letter Carrier" by Frencesca Giannone on November 20; "The Birthkeeper of Bethlehem" by Bridget Supple on December 18; "One Perfect Day" by Lauraine Snelling on January 15; "Frozen River" by Ariel Lawhorn on February 19. For the club's first read, we explored "The Nightingale" by Kristin Hannah. The 560 page novel beautifully portrays the poignant journey of two sisters in war-torn, German occupied France, highlighting their struggles and resilience. It was an emotional and impactful read that we highly recommend to anyone. It will be released as a movie in 2027! There is a copy in the church library. Respectfully submitted by Glynis McClary on behalf of the book club members. |

Alongside Hope Advent Resource
In this year’s Alongside Hope Advent resource, the Rev. Dr. Ray Aldred (Cree, Swan River Band, Treaty 8), invites you to consider what it means to heal yourself, to heal others, and to heal God’s creation so we might live into right relationships. Through powerful and personal storytelling and theological reflection, he offers both challenge and hope for our Advent journey. And while “truth, healing, reconciliation, right relationships” can often seem like words and concepts too big to handle, Ray invites us to think about them in the everyday of our lives. Throughout Advent, you can receive a daily message in your inbox with a scripture reading, a reflection from Dr. Aldred, a prayer and an Alongside Hope story.

Rides to Church
Need a ride to church? We are aware that some members would love to attend services in person but are unable to because of lack of transportation. If you are in that position, we would like to offer you the chance to be driven to services by other parish members. Please contact the office and let Gloria know which service(s) you would like to attend, and we will try to arrange a driver for you. There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex for anyone willing to drive others to church. |
