What is the 'Corporation'?

The Corporation is a three or four member team that is responsible for the daily operations of the parish.  They aslo act as a sounding-board for the Rector.  The Corporation consists of the Rector of the Parish,  The Rector's Warden (appointed by the Rector for a one-year renewable term), The People's Warden and Assistant Warden (both of whom are elected annually at the Annual General Meeting).

For 2010, the Corporation of the parish is:  Reverend Kyle Norman;  Wendy Dickin: Rector's Warden;   Dick Way: People's Warden; and Eric Christensen: Assistant Warden.

What is the 'Vestry'?

Vestry is a body group of parishoners who meet on a monthly basis to discuss and make decisions on all matters of parish life and ministry.  The Vestry involves the Corporation, as well as an elected representation of the church.  At Holy Cross, six additional members of the chruch are elected to sit on this council.  Individuals are elected for a two year term, and are elected by the parish as a whole at it's Annual General Meeting. 

Vestry meetings are held on the second Sunday of the month, beginning at Noon.  The meetings are roughly an hour in length.  Importantly, Vestry meetings are open to all members of the parish who wish to attend.  You are allowed to come and give voice to any or all discussions.

Synod Delegates

Each year Holy Cross elects four delegates to our Diocesan Synod, should one be held. For 2010, these are Mark Dickin (also Calgary delegate to Rupertsland Provincial Synod), Kathryn Lipsett, Kaitlyn Fuller and Marlene Stevenson. Contact Syunod delegates through the Church Office or email here.
