Reverend Kyle came to our community in September of 2009. He moved from the Diocese of British Columbia with his wife Alicia and their young son Solomon. Kyle graduated as Class President of his seminary, Wycliffe College, in the year 2003. He brings with him a wealth of excitement and enthusiasm, and some new ideas of how our church can reach out into the community around us.
As you can see, Reverend Kyle is on the younger side of what one would consider typical for Anglican Clergy. Of course, that doesn't mean that he can't relate to those who would consider themselves 'young at heart.' Reverend Kyle is easy to talk to, approachable and kind. He has the politeness and respectfulness that endear him to those older than he, but just enough crazyness and humour to make him someone the younger generation feel comfortable with as well. It seems to be a good mix.
One of the main gifts that Kyle brings to us is his teaching and preaching ministry. This is clearly seen in the Sunday morning 'kids time.' Here Kyle will tell the children of God's love and forgivness through either a humorous story, an object lesson, or a dazzling magic trick. Either way, it keeps the children (and everyone else) wanting to come back week after week. His preaching is full of humour and passion, and is both challenging and comforting. On Reverend Kyle's preaching, some have said "I never thought I could laugh in church!" , 'I haven't fallen asleep yet," and "I have grown in my knowledge of God and the bible.' If you sit in church on Sunday morning, it won't take you long to learn a few things about our Rector. He enjoys hotdogs and sausage rolls. He is a self-confessed reality t.v. nut. He approaches church, and all things 'churchy' with respect and good-humour. He loves Jesus and invites us all to do the same.
