Getting Married at Holy Cross

Are you planning a wedding?  Are you looking for the best location to celebrate your special day?

It's ok to shop around.  This is a special day and you want to find the best location; a location that you will remember and cherish for year to come.  The Anglican Parish of Holy Cross welcomes couples to come and look at our facility, to decide if our church would be right for them.  To book a time to view the sanctuary, simply call the Parish office at (403) 248-8497, or e-mail holycross@telusplanet.net

Then again . . you could always come to a service at 10:00am Sunday Morning!

Of course, in the Anglican Church, weddings do not have to be confined to Church buildings.  You can still have 'your church wedding' in an outdoor location.  The Anglian diocese of Calgary allows clergy to marry couples in a location other than a church building, when there is 'good reason' to do so.  Simply discuss this with Reverend Kyle Norman.

Here are some of the logistics that pertain to Weddings here at Holy Cross:

COST:  Weddings costs money, and we are sure that you would like to know how  the church, and all things assocaited with it, works into your final budget.  Here is what we offer:

CHURCH: We hold the theology that 'God's grace is not for sale.'  Thus we do not charge for the use of the church for a wedding.  That being said, many couples usually ask about what type of 'donation' they can give to the church in thanks for the use of the space.  Here our answer is 'whatever you feel is appropriate based on your ability and desire.'  Any cheque is made payable to 'The Angican Parish of Holy Cross.'

ORGANIST:  Holy Cross employs an astounding orgainst named Dr. Allan Bevan.  He is able to play anything a coupld asks him to play.  Because he is the church orgainst by profession, his fee is $100-$150 for a wedding.  Cheques are payable to Allan Bevan.

THE PRIEST:  Reverend Kyle chooses not to charge for a wedding.  As a priest, he feels this is part of his function in the community.  Again, often couples choose to gift the the presiding priest with some honorarium.  For couples who wish to provide an honorarium, this is simply based on desire and ability.  If you do provide an honorarium by cheque, it is made payable to Reverend Kyle Norman.

RECEPTION?  Holy Cross discourages couples having a reception on our site.  Our 'upper hall' which is most condusive to receptions is away from both kitchen and bathrooms, without any elevator access between floors.  Also, as a Montisorri School rents both our Parish Halls, the amount of space is limited for use.  Also, there is the issue with liqour license which will need to be obtained by the coupole.  If you do choose to have reception here, there is a cost associated with the use of the hall, kitchen, and any of our volunteers who may be asked to provide food.  Simply discuss this request with Reverend Kyle to learn about all associated costs and procedures.
